Из невошедшего в книгу. Первоначально автор хотел сделать книгу менее формальной и включить в нее математические шутки. Но редакторы в издательстве тети серьезные, возмутились: "Какие могут быть в математике шутки?!" И все шутки из книжки благополучно вымарали. Поэтому привожу некоторые здесь. J The university professor tells his colleague: “My students are so slow. I explained them Caushy’s theorem seven times. After the seventh time I finally understood it myself. But they still didn’t.” J The math professor asks the student: “What is the pole?” “It is the most distant and the coldest place on the Earth.” “And what is a residue?” “It is what left of you after you reach the pole.”
